Alright, so I started 2015 off with a bang. I deleted my Facebook account, drank two handles of cheap champagne, served a cheese plate to my husband and a few friends, and passed out by 12:45am.
That might not sound like a bang to you, but I was resting up… saving myself if you will… for five days of the most intense partying I have ever, EVER, participated in: Jamcruise 13!!!
Never heard of Jamcruise?
Yeah neither had I until about 2 years ago when it seemed like all of our friends in South Florida were going on Jamcruise 11. There was something about jam bands and music and a five day cruise,… blah blah blah…
Then those friends came back and we heard about Captain Buzzkill, costumes, party favors, Oregon chocolates, door decor, sunrise ‘played on through’ sessions, and epic compilations by some of the most amazing musicians on the planet.
It took me and Vince a couple of years to get on board, but finally, late last year we had a five minute conversation about going and Vince just booked the damn thing.
And then, because me and Vince going on Jamcruise with Dave, Jon, Jen, and Piv wasn’t epic enough, Timmy and I worked on being a artist to get him and Jen2 aboard.
Then we raged for 5 days straight around the Caribbean on our way to Honduras and Costa Maya to live music that included: Pretty Lights (with a live freakin’ band!), Break Science, Umphrey’s McGee, Karl Denson, The California Honey Drops, Elephant Revival, G.Love and Special Sauce, Galactic, The Motet, Lettuce, and so, so, so many more.
So…. yeah we pre-booked for Jamcruise next year while on Jamcruise THIS year.
It was like that.
In fact, everything we heard about this epic floating festival was true. 100% true. And then some.
The best part for me? As we were sailing out of the port of Miami I swear I felt my Dad’s happiness for me – that I was doing something so fun and so similar to the life I lived before last February, only on an even bigger scale.
When I set a goals for 2015 to remember how to laugh, to rediscover my inner child, to learn how to have fun again, I had NO idea that I would accomplish them so quickly.
Thank you to Jamcruise, the amazing artists on board, and my big, giant, newfound Jamily. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. The boat provides. It WAS my first rodeo. Arrivederci, Jamcruise! And I’ll see you next year on the boat!
